Virtual Workshop: US and Cuban Women Reclaim the Media to Advance Feminist Solidarity
Thursday, March 9, 2023 @ 5:00 – 7:00 pm EST
Cuba has made significant progress in women's rights, gender, and racial equality in the past 60 years, resulting in women playing leading roles in society with access to education, healthcare, and political representation. However, the US blockade has had a far-reaching impact on Cuban society, including hindering technological advancements and distorting the narrative of Cuban society. An online workshop will address this issue by covering critical thinking about the media landscape, reclaiming the media, and creating the media we want. Presenters will discuss how the US blockade and disinformation campaigns have limited knowledge exchange about Cuban women's human rights advancements and provide examples of using various media platforms for global feminist solidarity organizing, building solidarity with Cuba and other liberation struggles.
